The DNA mashup in the fright flick “Splice” is more of a sausage grinder than the delicate conjoining the title implies. Kind of a “let’s mix together human genetic stuff and a bunch of animal building blocks and see what sort of breakfast links pop out.”

Lauren Conrad says her style book will include details of her high school horror stories.
‘The Hills’ star decided to write the style book after fans kept asking her on fashion advice, and wanted to share the things she’s learned – including some fashion disasters – with the world.
Lauren said: ‘The first book tour I went on, I had the opportunity to meet thousands and thousands of fans. The majority of the questions were about fashion. It was fun to share all the things I had learned.’
The book, called ‘Lauren Conrad Style’, will include never-before-seen photos of the star and relatable advice, and the beauty also promises ‘personal stories, live and learn stories,’ and even ‘a couple of high school horror stories.’

In the beloved — OK, beloved by some — 1948 comedy-horror hybrid “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein,” the hapless lycanthrope Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr., who did hapless better than he likely wanted to) tries to explain his condition to the skeptics played by the film’s titular comic team. “I know you think I’m crazy,” he bleats, “but in half an hour the moon will rise, and I’ll turn into a wolf.”
